National Chemistry Week is October 21-27, which celebrates “The Many Faces of chemsitry.”
National Chemistry Week (NCW) is a community based program of the Office of Community Activities. This annual event unites ACS local sections, businesses, schools, and individuals in communicating the importance of chemistry to our way of life. The mission of National Chemistry Week is to reach the public, particularly elementary and secondary school children, with positive messages about chemistry.
Free Chemistry Demonstrations will be held at many libraries around the city. The schedule can be found HERE (.pdf) (updated October 12). The demonstrations are recommended for children ages 6-12, but ALL are welcome to attend.
National Chemistry Week Poster Contest: The local Cincinnati Section of the American Chemical Socity is again sponsoring a chemistry poster contest. This year the contest is based on “The Many Faces of Chemsitry.” The poster should be fun, motivational, and inspire students to pursue a science/chemistry-related career. Information on the poster contest can be found here (.pdf).
