<p><strong>From North : </strong>Take I-75 South to Exit #19 (Union Center Boulevard). Turn right as you enter <strong>Union Center Boulevard </strong>and drive West (headed toward Fairfield) for ca. 2 miles to <strong>Beckett Road </strong>(stop light). Turn right onto Beckett Road and follow up hill (ca. 0.9 miles) to the next right which is <strong>Beckett Ridge Boulevard</strong>. Turn right onto Beckett Ridge Boulevard. The Country Club entrance is on the right approximately 1 mile from the intersection. Drive slowly and watch for the <strong>small Country Club </strong>sign on your right. The driveway into the Club runs up a steep incline and the main building is situated at the top of a hill. Ample parking is available just to the right of the main Clubhouse building.</p>
<p><strong>From South : </strong>Basically the same as above. Take I-75 North to Exit #19 (Union Center Boulevard). Turn <strong>left </strong>as you enter Union Center Boulevard and drive West (headed toward Fairfield). Follow additional directions as given above.</p>

<p><strong>About the speaker:</strong></p>
<p>Elaine Fuchs is the Rebecca C. Lancefield Professor in Mammalian Cell Biology and Development at The Rockefeller University. She is also an Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Fuchs has published &gt;250 papers and is internationally known for her research in skin biology and associated human genetic disorders, which include skin cancers and life-threatening genetic syndromes such as blistering skin disorders. Fuchs’ current research focuses on the molecular mechanisms that underlie how multipotent stem cells respond to external cues, change their program of gene expression, exit their niche and adopt specific fates to make the epidermis, sebaceous glands and hair follicles of the skin.</p>
<p>Fuchs received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Princeton University, and after her postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she joined the faculty at the University of Chicago. She stayed there until 2002 when she relocated to The Rockefeller University. Fuchs’ awards and honors include the Presidential Young Investigator Award, the Richard Lounsbery Award from the National Academy of Sciences, the Novartis-Drew Award for Biomedical Research, the Dickson Prize in Medicine, the FASEB Award for Scientific Excellence and the Beering Award. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society, and she holds honorary doctorates from Mt. Sinai/New York University School of Medicine and from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Fuchs is also a past President of the American Society of Cell Biology and in summer 2009, she will be President-Elect of the International Society for Stem Cell Research.</p>

Conveniently located just north of Cincinnati, the park has a covered pavilion so it will be fun rain or shine.  Bring your friend or cornhole partner! <p>Come explore the wild side with Cincinnati ACS at party night at the Zoo!</p>
<p>We have scheduled the Cincinnati Zoo CREW plaza for party night on Friday May 15 from 5:30 &#8211; 9:30 pm.  This is an after-hours, private event.</p>
<p>Tours of the CREW facilities will be available for us to learn more about their research efforts in saving species with science.  A CREW scientist will guide groups of 15-20 on a 20-minute tour throughout most of the evening, with tours starting at 5:30 pm.</p>
<p>The Zoo&#8217;s indoor exhibits will be open for your viewing as well as any outdoor exhibits that have animals out at night.</p>
<p>The lodge will be our backup-up facility in case of rain.</p>
<p><strong>Dinner</strong> will be at 6:30pm on the plaza.  Dinner is an Italian Buffet:  Classic tossed salad, with ranch and balsamic vinaigrette dressings, bow-tie or rotini pasta with 3 sauces &#8211; marinara, pesto, or spinach-onion cream.  Sauteed peppers and mushrooms, steamed broccoli and baby carrots.  Coffee, tea, and cash bar.</p>
