Candidate for First Vice-Chair & Chair-Elect
Judson Haynes III
Judson Haynes III, Ph.D., earned a B.A. in Chemistry with Honors from Hampton University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Louisiana State University. Currently, Dr. Haynes is a Section Head in Family Care R&D at Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati. Dr. Haynes is Past-President of the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE), a position he held for two years (2013-2015). NOBCChE was founded in 1972 with the mission of “building an eminent cadre of people of color in science and technology.” As President, Dr. Haynes was responsible for forwarding the mission of NOBCChE through programs, training and collaboration with industry, government and academia. Under Dr. Hayne’s leadership, NOBCChE increased the number of unique programs designed to foster professional development, access to growth opportunities in STEM and gain full employment in the scientific enterprise. Dr. Haynes gave an invited presentation to the joint meeting of NOBCChE and the ACS Cincinnati Section at Xavier University in December 2015.

Mike Annis
Mike Annis is Vice President of Industrial Manufacturing at Michelman, Inc. He earned a B.S. In Chemistry at North Dakota State University and an MBA at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Mike has 20+ years of experience in paint, coatings and engineered resins industries. He has experience as a formulation chemist, global technical director and OEL manager, strategic marketing manager, quality & operations director, global business development, sales & marketing manager and global business director. Mike has worked previously with Celanese (2011-2014), AksoNobel (1999-2011) and the Valspar Corporation (1992-1997). He has been an ACS member since 1994.

Sam Glover
Chief, Biomonitoring and Health Assessment Branch, Research Health Scientist, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Cincinnati, OH. BS in Chemistry, Ohio State University (1990); MS in Health Physics, University of Cincinnati; PhD in Radiochemistry, Washington State University (1998). Wide background of experience ranging from academia (Washington State University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Cincinnati), National Laboratory (Mound and LANL), and government service (NIOSH). Numerous publications on radiochemical methods and applications. Member: American Chemical Society (since 1995) and Health Physics Society (since 1992). American Nuclear Society: Member since 1998. Executive Committee Member, BMD and IRD; Chair and Secretary, BMD; Secretary, IRD; Chaired several special sessions; Program Chair for the Methods and Applications of Radioanalytical Chemistry (MARC) Conference series (MARC VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XI).

Susan Hershberger
Dr. Susan Hershberger is completing her service as alternate councilor of the Cincinnati Section. Susan served as Chair of the Section during the period 2009-2010. She is also involved in National Chemistry Week outreach activities and is a past secretary and auditor of the section. Educated at Marquette University (B.S.) and Iowa State University (Ph.D.), she held teaching and research postdoctoral associations at Indiana University and the University of Minnesota. At Miami University, Susan has served as Director of the Center for Chemistry Education (www.ccemu.org) where she has developed active learning chemistry and science teaching and learning materials. Her previous work at Miami University included contract research, chemistry and science education outreach projects, and visiting/adjunct assistant professor positions.
Roger A. Parker
Roger Parker received his B.S. degree from the University of Iowa in 1965, and his Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in 1969. He joined Merrell National Laboratories where he was engaged in synthetic organic chemistry for 27 years. After retiring from Hoechst Marion Roussel (Marion Merrell Dow) in 1996 he taught chemistry at Xavier University, Miami University Middletown, and is presently teaching at Xavier University. He has served the Cincinnati Section as Treasurer, Second Vice-chair, First Vice-chair, Chair (1978) and (2008) and Trustee. He was a Cincinnati Section Councilor (1983 to 2015). Roger is active on the Program Committee (2000 and 2007) and 32nd Central Regional meeting (CMACS-2000). He was Co-General Chair for the Central Regional Meeting (CMACS-2016). At the National level he has served as a representative to Corporation Associates and a member of the Council Committee for Public Relations, Local Section Activities Committee, and the Committee on Meetings and Expeditions, the Committee on Nominations and Elections and the Membership Affairs Committee. He is also Secretary/Treasurer of the Central Regional ACS. Roger represented the Cincinnati Section at all Council meetings during his tenure as a Councilor l983 - 2015.

Keith Walters
Keith Walters is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at Northern Kentucky University. He has been at NKU since 2002 following receiving a B.S. degree from Furman University, a Ph.D. from the University of Florida and a post-doctoral position at Northwestern University. His teaching interests are in general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and the history of chemistry (which he satisfies regularly with study abroad opportunities). He also maintains an active externally funded organometallic photochemistry research group, having mentored more than 60 students during his NKU career. He has been active in ACS since 1994 when he joined as a student affiliate, and served as one of the faculty advisors for the NKU ACS student affiliate group from 2003-2009. Keith has served the Cincinnati Section as the Co- chair for National Chemistry Week from 2007- 2009, and served as Treasurer 2012-2016.

Celeste Morris
Celeste A. Morris, Ph.D., is a medical writer at Medpace, Cincinnati, OH where she writes clinical study protocols, reports, and regulatory documents for the FDA. From 2013-2016 Celeste was an assistant professor at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) where she taught introductory chemistry courses, technical writing, and instrumental analysis. At NKU, her research focused on the development of micro and nanoscale bioanalytical sensors for rapid analysis of hormones in blood. She and her research students also utilized biophysical assays to evaluate toxicity of nanoparticles utilized as drug delivery agents to the brain. Ongoing research includes applications of microprocessor and microcomputer technology for instrument development.
Celeste is an alumna of NKU (B.S., Chemistry in 2008) where she did research with Prof. Keith Walters. She earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana in 2013 working with Prof. Lane Baker. In 2013 she was a visiting research scholar at Peking University, Beijing, China where she worked with Prof. Yuanhua Shao to develop nanoscale electrodes for single molecule measurements. As a member of the Society of Applied Spectroscopy, American Chemical Society, and Society of Electroanalytical Chemistry, she participates in regional, national, and international meetings and is a journal reviewer. Celeste has been active in the Cincinnati Section of the American Chemical Society both as an undergraduate student and as a faculty member at NKU. She was faculty co-advisor for the NKU Student ACS Chapter and spearheaded National Chemistry Week outreach activities in Northern Kentucky in 2014 and 2015. In running for auditor, Celeste is seeking to continue her involvement with the Cincinnati Section of the ACS and is interested in working with industry and academia to bridge boundaries to enhance education, create more internship opportunities, and encourage industry involvement in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Hong Zhang
Hong Zhang is currently a chemistry lead at Advanced Testing Laboratory Inc., Cincinnati, where she has worked for 14 years. She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in polymer materials from Chengdu University of Science and Technology, and a doctoral degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. She has served the Cincinnati Section of the American Chemical Society as the National Chemistry Week co-coordinator for three terms (2013-2015) and secretary for one term (2011).
