National Chemistry Week 2017
September 7, 2017 (Jose Betancourt)
Hello Chemistry Aficionados! I am excited to announce the kickoff of National Chemistry Week 2017! NCW is October 22-28th and the theme is "Chemistry Rocks", focusing on the geochemistry of rocks and minerals.
Cincinnati Public Libraries:
We have a big requests list for demos at the Cincinnati Public Library - I will be reaching out to volunteers from last year
to schedule library demos. If you would like to lead a Library demo email me and let me know. Also like last year, volunteers can sign
up online to lead Library demos. I will provide the link to sign up for a library soon. Thank you to all Cincy Library volunteers!
Libraries outside Cincinnati/Hamilton County:
For those of you who coordinate libraries outside Cincinnati/Hamilton County, now is the time to start making those calls.
Once you have made arrangements with your library/venue of choice please contact Hong Zhang to let her know the agreed time/date.
We will need to add this information to our flyer along with all other venues. The flyer will be uploaded to the national and local ACS websites to help people
locate NCW events. Thank you for reaching out to your communities and setting these demos up!
Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC):
This year's NCW demos at the Cincinnati Museum Center will be on Friday and Saturday, October 27 and 28, from 10 AM to 5 PM in the Duke Energy Children’s Museum lobby.
If you would like to help out at the CMC please contact Gloria Story.
This is a great venue to celebrate chemistry and reaches so many children! Thank you to the CMC volunteers!
There will be a Demo practice again this year. Planning is in the works. Date/time/location TBD.
Thanks again to everyone in advance for your help with NCW this year (my first as coordinator for CINTACS)!
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. Also, please feel free to forward this info to others that might be interested in helping out with NCW.
